Medical Missions


Introduction

Dr. Pajka is known for organizing volunteer surgical teams that travel to developing countries and perform free cataract surgery. Dr. Pajka donates his time, equipment, and expertise to help eye surgeons and staff from countries such as Nicaragua, Bolivia, El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Africa, Jamaica, Costa Rica and Uzbekistan. In 1997, Pajka hosted eye surgeons from Tashkent, Uzbekistan in Lima. In 2006, Dr. Pajka also hosted two eye surgeons in Managua, Nicaragua. Many Ohio State Eye Surgeons have traveled with Dr. Pajka to experience Global missions. He has worked to teach surgical techniques to surgeons in Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uzbekistan and in Ohio at his surgery center.

Typical Cataract Mission
  • 4 days to 2 weeks
  • Hosted by local organization, missionary, governmental Ministry of Health
  • Work with local doctors, nurses and residents
  • Bring everything necessary for surgery
  • Teaching
