John T. Pajka, M.D.

Dr. John T. Pajka graduated with honors from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1986. He completed an Internship at Riverside Hospital in Columbus and served his residency at the Ohio State University Department of Ophthalmology, where he is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Pajka is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in Laser Vision Correction and No-Needle, No-Stitch Cataract Surgery. He has been performing eye surgery since 1987, was one of the first surgeons in Ohio to perform LASIK, and has been doing it since early 1996. That’s longer than any eye surgeon in our region, including Toledo, Dayton, Sidney, or Columbus. Dr. Pajka traveled to China, Canada, and elsewhere to perfect his skills, learning LASIK techniques from international leaders in the field before most people (or eye surgeons) had even heard of LASIK. He has been honored by VISX as a Star Surgeon – one of the top 100 laser surgeons nationwide. Dr. Pajka has performed literally thousands of vision correcting procedures, helping thousands of people throughout the region and Ohio. He has performed LASIK on many area eye doctors and medical doctors alike, including surgeons, cardiologists, other specialists, and countless nurses. In fact, he is the doctor other doctors trust with their eyes.

Dr. Pajka has been a pioneer in the field of eye surgery, bringing many innovations and surgical techniques here locally. He has consistently brought a number of 1sts to the Lima region. These include: 1st corneal transplant, 1st RK (radial keratotomy), 1st PRK (photorefractive keratectomy), 1st LASIK, 1st intrastromal corneal rings (Intacs), 1st No-Needle, No-Stitch cataract surgery, 1st local excimer laser for laser vision correction, and 1st and only eye specific ambulatory surgery center, The Eye Surgery Center of Western Ohio. He has also performed the first regions implantable contact lenses(ICL) and multifocal implants for the correction of presbyopia and cataracts.

In addition to serving the people of Western Ohio, Dr. Pajka has led numerous humanitarian surgical eye missions to developing countries, including Nicaragua, El Salvador, Haiti, Uzbekistan, Honduras, Guatemala, Bolivia, and Costa Rica. He and his teams have donated their time and resources to work with local eye surgeons, providing cataract surgery and care to people who otherwise would remain sightless. He has helped in the training of eye surgeons in these countries. In fact, he helped organize the Eye Hospital in Managua,Nicaragua. He has also helped teach visiting eye surgeons from Uzbekistan and Nicaragua.

Dr. Pajka is the only eye surgeon in the region certified by the American Board of Eye Surgery. He is a member of the International Society of Refractive Surgery, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American College of Eye Surgery, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, Ohio Ophthalmological Society, and Surgical Eye Expeditions.
