Mitchell A. Romito, M.D.


Dr. Mitchell Romito graduated in 2013 from The Ohio State University summa cum laude with Honors in Biomedical Engineering and as President of the university chapter of Tau Beta Pi, The Engineering Honor Society. His early interest in ophthalmology lead him to be Prevent Blindness Ohio Certified in 2012. He continued his studies at The Ohio State University College of Medicine on a full Dean’s Scholarship for academic merit where he served on the Honor and Professionalism Committee for two years. During this time, he conducted and published research on a novel cancer therapy in the journal Molecular Cancer Therapeutics. He then completed his Internal Medicine internship and Ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. During his residency, he designed and prototyped his own surgical instrument for use in glaucoma surgery.

Dr. Romito has extensive training and experience in complex cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), corneal surgery, intravitreal injections, myriad laser treatment modalities as well as the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, lens, retina, and optic nerve.

Dr. Romito grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. While completing his studies at Ohio State, he met his wife Ashley. They are the proud parents of Annalise, who was born in early 2022. Outside of medicine, he enjoys making homemade pizzas, hiking, playing chess, and following numerous Ohio sports teams.
