Zachary J. Mikolaj, M.D.
Dr. Zachary Mikolaj graduated from Miami University magna cum laude with a degree in Zoology. He continued his studies at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and graduated in 2015. He then completed his internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital and ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He followed up residency with a Glaucoma Fellowship at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
He is currently on faculty in The Ohio State University Department of Ophthalmology as a board certified glaucoma specialist and cataract surgeon. There, he has won multiple awards for his efforts teaching residents.
You may know Dr. Mikolaj’s name from patients that have been referred on to him from Pajka Eye Center in the past. Some of these patients have continued to make trips to Columbus for care. However, Pajka Eye Center and The Ohio State University have agreed to have Dr. Mikolaj work part time locally to ease patient travel burden and help with the volume of patients in Lima and the surrounding areas. He will be performing cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and combined procedures locally at the Eye Surgery Center of Western Ohio in addition to seeing patients in clinic at Pajka Eye Center.
Dr. Mikolaj grew up in Medina, Ohio. While completing his studies in Columbus, he met his wife, Lauren, who is also on faculty at The Ohio State University. Outside of medicine, he enjoys hiking, exercising, and repairing old cars and watches.
